Pasig City plans to provide tablets to public school students and laptops to teachers

The local government unit of Pasig City headed by their very young and good mayor Vico Sotto planned to give laptops and tablets to public school teachers and students.

In a social media post, Mayor Sotto said that he does not want that teachers and students will be left behind as DepEd opt to virtual and online classes.

“Ano man ang mangyari, hindi natin puwede hayaan na mahuli ang mga mag-aaral natin sa pampublikong paaralan,” he wrote.

Pasig City Congressman Roman Romulo revealed that they allocated enough funds amounting to 1 billion pesos for this said plan.

“More or less ay aabot sa isang bilyong piso ang gagastusin kasi ang projected number of students ng Pasig is about 140,000. So, ganun karami ang bibigyan mo, dagdag pa siyempre ang mga teachers na wala namang laptop, ay mabibigyan din,” Romulo said.

Mayor Vico Sotto also said that they are working on making the internet connection better at the barangay level in Pasig City, as preparation for virtual classes.

“In case of [virtual classes], we are preparing better internet connections at the barangay level where students can download the modules,” Sotto said.
