Office of the President fires CHEd official, 3 others

The Office of the President (OP) dismissed from service of a commissioner of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and three other presidential appointees over the alleged corrupt practices.

CHEd Commissioner Ronald Adamat was found administratively guilty for grave misconduct, resulting undue injury under the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.

Also dismissed were Nestor Rillon, regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority-Region 1; Lucrecio Alviar Jr., former regional director of the Department of Agriculture-Region 1; and Armando Ganal, regional director of the Department of Science and Technology-Region 1.

The three were also found liable of neglect of duty.

The four respondents were ex officio members of the Pangasinan State University’s (PSU) board of regents (BOR), the highest policy-making body of the state university.Alviar retired on Jan. 21, 2021.

Respondents can still appeal the OP’s decision.
