Teachers beg DepEd to extend school break
The Teachers Dignity Coalition (TDC) said it is continuously asking to the Department of Education (DepEd) to extend the school break and grant teachers more time to prepare for the resumption of classes on August 22.
TDC national chairman Benjo Basas said they had a virtual meeting with Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte to air their concerns.
TDC previously urged Duterte to move the opening of classes to mid-September or first week of October.
Basas said it will be “dangerous” for the DepEd not to recognize the rights of the educators.
“Napaka-delikado nito na kapag naging ganito ang maging normal for the Department of Education na hindi kikilalanin ‘yung karapatan ng mga guro, aba’y baka ito ang maging practice in the future,” he said.
