Official Statement on Opening of Classes in September
IATF recommends to schedule the opening of classes in September, but they want to clarify that this is still subject to compliance with the existing law and the recommendation of Department of Education.
Section 3 of Republic Act 7977 states that “school year shall start on the first Monday of June but not later than the last day of August.”
Here is the full statement of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque during the press briefing for the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC) and Acting NEDA Secretary Karl Chua:
PS Roque: “So ibig sabihin the recommendation the earliest is September but subject to compliance with the law and recommendation of DepEd. Malinaw po iyon.”
DepEd makes no further comment on this matter as of the moment.
