Sen. Imee Marcos: It’s difficult to find “truly committed” teachers nowadays

In a senate hearing online, Senator Imee Marcos said that finding “truly committed” teachers is really difficult nowadays. It is one of the reasons why students are also failing in their lives.

“Ang realidad, ‘yung karamihan pumapasok sa education…usually hindi naman ‘yan ang first choice ng estudyante”, Marcos said.

“Unfortunately, ang hirap maghanap ng truly committed na teacher sa panahong ito,”she added.

That was her exact words. The senate committee tackled how the education department can progress as the battle of COVID-19 continues.

On the other hand, the Department of Education admitted that teaching life may quite slow and lag but the department has full confidence in its teachers.

“We do note that the source of the resiliency of the department also lies in our teachers historically. Our schools will be the seats of innovation but what we need are demonstration pilots,” said Nepomuceno Malaluan, Undersecretary and Chief of Staff of the Office of the Secretary.

Malaluan also said that teachers also need reskilling and upskilling to adapt change and to fit in into the new normal that we are in.

  1. so sad…. teachers gyud agad agad ang rason…budgetan nyo kaya nang malaki ang education kahit hindi na sahod ni teacher.. facilities at kagamitan sa classroom..

  2. Ibalik ang corporal punishment to trigger the study habits ng mga bata. Di tulad ngayon maski assignment nila hindi sila takot na di sila maka submit kasi walang impact patapatasa kanila. They're all about Gadgets nowadays
