“The advantages of school uniforms have been hotly contested for many years. Children uniqueness is somehow restricted, and their capacity to make their own decisions is removed, whilst on the other hand the distractions and stress that come with needing to dress to impress is reduced. Considering also that there’s a sudden arise of lgbtqia+ in the community, uniform for transwoman and other members of the said group was added as a concern. On that account, some school started to allow these individuals to wear school uniforms according to their choice or to the gender which they believed they are indentified as one to open a gender—sensitive environment as well as to bring comfort to these lgbt members. In some agendas, other school firmly requires the strict and formal wearing of school uniform regardless of what gender that the student think he’s recognized as. Well,in my case, I’m very much blessed and grateful at the same time for being in a school that totally accepts lgbtqia+ member of the society. I feel the strong and warm support of my school especially the love of my teachers and their strong regard towards the gender that I have. Being in this ground gives me so much comfort and wings to properity and as a member of the mentioned clan, I want them also to feel the same way as I feel—the acceptance, freedom, love and above all, the respect,” saa niya.
“On behalf of being a transwoman, I want to speak for wearing uniform according the the person’s gender identity to be allowed or accepted. I hope that in the near future, other schools will also comform to gender—friendly wearing of uniform. Thus, it does not only intend to help in amplifying gender acceptance in our society but as well as heping our fellowmen to build strong confidence within them.Ladies and gentlemen, making our brothers and sisters in land feel safe is not enough, we should also make them feel comfortable. Therefore, I strongly support wearing school uniform according to the student choice or gender and hear the voices of those trans out there seeking for comfort. The adoption of gender-neutral uniforms must be one of significant and positive steps toward a compassionate society. We should always remember that forcing clothes on children or students won’t make a school better, but a uniform combined with reforms can. Because, I do believe that if our society wants to practice inclusivity, therefore our society must allow the freedom of choice,” dagdag niya.
