Student infected with COVID-19 excused from class -DepEd

Students who fall ill with COVID-19 will be excused from class, according to the Department of Education.

“In terms of assistance to the students, basically, all we can do is excuse them from their classes as soon as there are symptoms,” DepEd spokesperson Michael Poa said.

Poa also called on parents not to send their children to school who show symptoms of COVID-19.

He said that children who develop symptoms of COVID-19 can switch to modular learning or online learning, depending on the student’s condition.

“Once they come in and have symptoms, they will be automatically excused from class and switch to either modular learning or online learning, depending on the situation and depending on their condition,” he said.

Poa also announced that DepEd, with the help of the Department of Health, is promoting counseling for students and parents who have not yet been vaccinated against COVID-19.

DepEd also ordered schools to have their own infection containment plan or strategies to manage students who get sick with COVID-19.
