BBM promise to hire more non-teaching staff in public schools

Presidential candidate Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. vows to hire more non-teaching personnel in public schools to ease teachers workload.

Marcos said that many teachers do extra tasks which affect the quality of their teaching.

“We need to hire more non-teaching personnel who are qualified for the job, ‘yung tinutukoy ko is yung mga sobrang ginagawa ng mga guro na hindi naman dapat sila gumagawa. In that case, we can ease the work of the teachers,” Marcos said.

“Mabibigyan natin sila ng mahabang oras na makapaghanda, makapag-prepare ng mga lesson sa kung anong subject na ituturo nila. Kung minsan kasi ‘yung mga guro natin, teacher na sila nagiging librarian, nurse din sila, may nababalitaan pa tayo na may mga nagbabantay pa ng canteen,” he added.

Marcos added that removing the non-teaching tasks from the teachers workload will help educational standards in public schools.

“Nitong pandemic nakita natin kung paano ‘yung naging adjustment ng mga guro. Kahanga-hanga naman talaga, pero hindi natin maitatanggi na marami sa mga guro natin ang nahihirapan sa mga gawain, marami ang nai-stress, nadi-depress at labis na naapektuhan ‘yung kanilang mental health,” he said.

Aside from this, Marcos eyes to hire more teachers on permanent status.

  1. If this could be fulfilled by the next pres.Marcos then i would say this is a big help to us teachers. Besides, please heed our plea Mr. Pres. salary increase for teachers which has been long awaited. Hope you will be the one to fulfill and ease our burden in our department.Long live!

    1. I hope so na maaddress yong problem ng mga teachers regarding extra work loads na tunay na nakapagbibigay ng mental stress sa mga guro
      kung purely teaching lang naman ididedevote ang oras ng mga guro magiging quality ang learnings ng mga bata. At please naman po salary increase din kasi tumataas din ang presyo ng mga bilihin taon taon so hindi na po match yong salary namin hindi sumasakto sa mga gastusin …

Hiring more nonteaching staff in deped is ingoing, however there r nonteaching items na napakataas ang qualification standards, like Guidance Counselors, maraming unfilled na GC items na dahil s standards sa mga secobdary schools, sana ang bagong kalihim ng edukasyon ay mapagtuonan ng pansin ito na babaan ang QS ng GC. Sayang ang nga unfilled items ng mga secondry schools

    1. Where is the funding going to come from? He need to give us idea on how he is going to make rice as 20 pesos per kilo and funding more staff at schools. Otherwise, these are just promises that are unsustainable.

  2. Kung kaiangan talaga bakit aantayin pa maging pangulo si BBM kung kaya naman ipatupad ni Duterte ngayon? dapat nga noon pa yan, di ba nakikita ng ahensya ang need ng tauhan niya?

  3. The promises of a president that can’t even show in debates should not be heeded. Also, education quality should be the priority. Reform instead the teacher selection, education and qualification process to get teachers that are actually teachers and not only doing teaching as a day job. A reform to the education system should also be implemented, considering some Philippines schools often pass failing students in order to preserve their image. Lastly, our education system should also imitate Germany’s education policy, no tolerance to revering dictators and tyrants.

    Sana e stop na yong k12 na yon. It’s an additional expense for parents. It works in US but not in the Phi
    lippines. After graduation in high school ( grade 12) in US students are hired , and they can continue their studies while working..

  7. Sana may budget din for Classroom Structuring allowance ang bawat guro. Kasi hindi mapupunuan lahat ng MOOE ang mga ka kailangan in sa bawat classrooms kasi ang ibang schools malalawak ang school sites konti Lang ang enrolment so sa maintenance pa lang sa labas ng classrooms kulang na kulang na po.
