DepEd hired 13,000 learning support aides nationwide

Department of Education Undersecretary for Planning, Human Resource and Organizational Development Jesus L.R. Mateo said that they have hired 13,000 learning support aides for the implementation of the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan amidst COVID-19 pandemic.

“So far, mga 13,000 yung ating nahire na ating mga LSAs. Ang composition nito ay yung mga displaced teachers from private schools kasi may 500 na pribadong paaralan na hindi nagbukas,” he said in an interview over DZBB.

“Ang nahire na non-displaced personnel o learning support aides ay mga 11,508 for a total of about 13,000,” Mateo added.

He said that the budget for the hiring of LSAs is not only shouldered by DepEd, but also by the LGUs.

“Ang pagpopondo po nito hindi lang ang kagawaran kasama po dito ang lokal na pamahalaan, may nagvolunteer rin po at mga partners at gusto ko lang message dito sa sinasabi natin ay ginagawa natin, binabalik natin ang bayanihan spirit ng mga Pilipino,” Mateo said.

Hiring LSAs in all public schools in School Year (SY) 2020-2021 is supported by DepEd Order No. 32, s. 2020 or the Guidelines on the Engagement of Services of Learning Support Aides to Reinforce the Implementation of the BE-LCP.
