REALTALK: A thousand good deeds of a teacher will be wiped away by a single mistake

Do you agree that a thousand good deeds of a teacher will be gone that easy by a single mistake? I guess all teachers will agree on this.

In the education setting where all the acts and moves of a teacher are being watched, this is 100% true. Teachers do everything for the good of their students and they have the code of ethics to uphold. These teachers trained themselves the values during the four years in college.

Teachers know their purpose and their roles in a clear way. They know their values and virtues. They stick to the code of ethics for teachers as this is the bible of education. The good deeds of a teacher are countless and selfless.

Somehow, there is one flaw in the world of education that is toxic to the teachers. A thousand good deeds of a teacher will be gone right away with a single mistake he/she did. All the things you do for the sake of the community and the school will be gone away in a snap of a finger. This is so heartbreaking and frustrating.

An example is the teacher who went viral on tiktok for not being careful of his actions. People judge the teacher and the department is investigating. To think, teachers are also humans like everybody else. This pandemic, they are also affected yet they manage to stay strong. Different individual teachers cope up with the current situation in different manners.

There are teachers who manage to stay calm despite the situation but there are others who need an exit. Sometimes social media is a form of the exit like tiktok. It so happened that the teacher did not think twice before uploading it on tiktok then it went viral.

The saddest part of being a teacher is the possibility of you doing a single mistake. To put it together, a teacher should be discreet and should never allow himself/herself be an open book. Sometimes, teachers need to be private in order to protect his/her dignity. – Clea | Helpline PH
