BAYANIHAN SPIRIT: Residents create a make-shift classroom for their students in the mountain goes viral

Bayanihan spirit is going viral on social media when residents of Bryg. Taguytoy Camalig, Albay helped in building a classroom for their students.

Distance learning is still on the way and students in the provinces need to cope with the burden of the new normal. The residents of Brgy. Taguytoy find ways and means to cater the learning of their students. Parents and students helped each other in the making of a classroom on top of the mountain.

The project was an original plan of a 4th year education students Marvin Joshua Nupia. According to him, the mountaintop is the only place where there is signal in their place. Somehow they decided to build the classroom there.

The parents of the students volunteered to help in the building process. It is for their sons and daughters sake that they do this. It is to lighten the burden of their children during online classes.

The students were very happy at they could at last study without any signal problems. They are already comfortable to study and do their modules.

“Hindi na po kami masyado maiinitan at hindi na po nakakapagod mag-squat dahil may upuan na at masisilungan,”

– according to Jasmin Mariño as one of the students

As an education student, Marvin saw the struggles of the students in their place. As the students were then going anywhere to find signal for their online classes. This story of bayanihan spirit is an inspiration to everyone. It is a true blessing if a community share the same values and beliefs for the benefit of all. Simplicity at all cost and no hesitancy in giving their strengths in helping.

In our society today, bayanihan spirit is rare. This story is one of a million where it remind us of the true spirit of camaraderie and unity. – Clea | Helpline PH
