Teachers suffer intense hoarseness of voice in the first week of face to face classes in SY 2022-2023

Teachers suffer intense hoarseness of voice in the first week of face to face classes. This start of the SY 2022-2023 is  very challenging for them. With the two years of modular learning, this situation is a guarantee. As we all know, teachers use their voice all the time when they deliver their lessons to their learners. That was eight  hours a day and five days in a row for a week. Then, here comes the pandemic.

The pandemic changes the course of all the activities of the people young and old alike. So as with our learners and teachers, they need to carry-on teaching-learning activities. This was the time when teachers used their brains and strengths and everything. Teachers only preserved their voices during this time.

Last Monday, August 22, 2022 marked the first day of school for SY 2022-2023. After the five days straight classes, teachers suffer intense hoarseness of voice. This was due to the full-packed schedule they have. Teachers need to focus on the refreshers and psychological and psychosocial aspects first. They doubled their time in the lesson preparation and the delivery.

It was a long busy week and teachers suffer voice hoarseness. They can’t control things like this. This is a sign that teachers need to freshen up their vocal chords. They need to make sure they can withstand the next long weeks ahead.

Hoarseness of voice is natural to teachers already. The only thing they need is to cope with it later on. Teachers suffer hoarseness of voice due to the fact that their vocal chords rested for two years. Now, their voices are again needed to flourish in the different classrooms. Students need their voices more than anything inside the classroom.

To our dear teachers please do take care of yourself. Your voices are the most important thing for the students right now. Thank you dear teachers for your sacrifices! – Alec | Helpline PH
