Clarifications on the Recognition of Academic Excellence Awardees Per DepEd Order No. 36, S. 2016
The Department of Education (DepEd) reiterates the provisions of DepEd Order No. 36 . 2016 titled Policy Guidelines on Awards Recognition for the K to 12 Basic Education Program. This Order emphasizes that formal recognition of learner outstanding performance and achievement must be done in a manner that encourages them to strive for excellence and to become proactive member of the School community applied to the announcement of Academic Excellence award in written media or in ceremonies, this necessitate that learners who have gamered similar awards must be treated in a fair, impartial and non-hierarchical manner.
This Department order that the announcement of learners who have been awarded Academic Excellence Awards (i.e., With Honor , With High Honors, With Highest Honors) must be made in alphabetical order within categories , not from highest to lowest average grade within categories. For example, given three learners awarded With Honors:
The name of learner Margarita Aragon shall be announced first, followed by Juana Dela Cruz and Jesus Zaragosa.
