DepEd School Calendar for School Year 2023-2024
The Department of Education (DepEd) has released the Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities for the School Year (SY) 2023-2024. These guidelines aim to enable schools and community learning centers (CLCs) to effectively and efficiently implement school activities and maximize instructional time, aligning with the goals and objectives of the DepEd MATATAG Agenda.
Key Dates for SY 2023-2024
- Opening Date: Tuesday, August 29, 2023
- Closing Date: Friday, June 14, 2024
- End-of-School-Year (EOSY) Rites: Included in the calendar
Pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 11480, also known as “An Act to Lengthen the School Calendar from Two Hundred (200) Days to Not More Than Two Hundred Twenty (220) Class Days,” the SY 2023-2024 shall follow these dates.
Alternative Learning System (ALS) For the ALS, learning intervention will formally open on the same date as public formal basic education, August 29, 2023. The program duration will depend on learners’ individual agreements based on pre-assessments and recognition of prior learning.
Guidelines for Private Schools and Universities Private schools and state/local universities and colleges may adopt these omnibus implementing guidelines on the school calendar and must follow the provisions stipulated under RA 11480 concerning the required number of class days. Schools must report any deviation from these guidelines in advance to their respective regional offices (ROs).
Repeal of Inconsistent Provisions All DepEd Orders and other related issuances, rules, and regulations inconsistent with these guidelines are repealed, rescinded, or modified accordingly.
