More Benefits for Teachers and Government Workers in the 2025 Elections

Teachers serving as electoral board members in the 2025 elections, ensuring fair and smooth voting procedures.

Teachers and government workers who will serve in the May 2025 elections will receive higher benefits. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced an increase in honoraria, service credits, and allowances. These improvements recognize their hard work and dedication in ensuring a smooth and fair election process.

Higher Honoraria for Electoral Board Members

Comelec has approved a ₱2,000 increase in the honoraria of Electoral Board (EB) members:

  • Chairperson: From ₱10,000 to ₱12,000
  • Poll Clerk: From ₱9,000 to ₱11,000
  • Third Member: From ₱9,000 to ₱10,000
  • Support Staff: From ₱6,000 to ₱8,000

This salary increase ensures that election workers receive fair compensation for their efforts in safeguarding the election process.

More Service Credits for Teachers

Teachers assigned to election duties will now receive 10 days of service credits, up from the previous 5 days. Other government workers participating in the elections will also get an additional 5 days of service credits. These credits allow them to take leave without affecting their regular leave balance, giving them time to rest after election-related work.

Additional Allowances for Election Workers

To support election workers, Comelec has proposed a ₱1,000 transportation allowance for teachers and government personnel. This will help cover commuting expenses on election day.

Faster Reimbursement for Medical and Legal Expenses

To provide better support, Comelec is working to simplify the process of reimbursing medical and legal expenses for teachers and election staff. This ensures they receive timely assistance for any health or legal issues encountered during their duties.

Strong Support from Lawmakers

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III has expressed support for these benefits. He is pushing for budget adjustments to ensure that election workers receive a fair net income after tax deductions.

Why These Benefits Matter

Teachers and government workers play a vital role in ensuring clean and honest elections. These new benefits show the government’s commitment to valuing their service and making their election duties safer and more rewarding.

The upcoming 2025 elections will be a major event, and these benefits will help motivate and support the hardworking individuals who will make it happen.
