Gospel: Matthew 10:26-33

‘So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground unperceived by your Father. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.’

‘Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven.’

Matthew 10:26-33

Reflection:

Our gospel for today is from Matthew 10:26-33 that leaves us the line “fear no one“. Jesus is reminding me not to fear of anyone or anything, As long as He is always in our hears then nobody, no one can shake us.

The same goes with us as Catholics, as Christians trying to live up to the likeness of God. Jesus assured us not to fear anybody, anyone even if that certain someone is too high in position. Only God can give us the reason to shake. This message from Matthew 10:26-33 gave us the courage to face everything with a pure intention.

To connect it with our daily lives, we all have struggles that we want to dispose of with. Despite the efforts still these problems arise from now and then and many more and so on. Each and every one of us has our own fear and worries. Most of that are fears humans are bound to feel as they are mortals. So then, to live up to the message from Matthew 10:26-33, we must understand the meaning.

Matthew 10:26-33 gave us the closer look on what no to fear versus what to fear when the time comes. We must not fear people for they are like us. We are all created equal at birth although we differ in positions and rankings but still, we are all equal. Equal int he eyes of the maker and redeemer. One thing is for sure, God will always see us for the good deeds we perform here on earth.

Today, as we go to church and pray, we must always ask God the grace of courage. We must ask Him to help us not to fear someone or anything. We must ask Him to give us the strength to stay humble and good as we should always be for the benefit of our soul. – Clea | Helpline PH
