Today’s Gospel Reflection: Mark 10:46-52

Gospel: Mark 10:46-52

As Jesus left Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting at the side of the road. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout and cry out: Son of David, have pity on me! And many of them scolded him and told him to keep quiet, but he only shouted all the louder: Son of David, have pity on me! Jesus stopped and said: Call him here. So they called the blind man over: Courage, they said, get up. He is calling you. So throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and went to Jesus. Then Jesus spoke: What do you want me to do for you? The blind man said to him, Rabbuni, let me see again. Jesus said to him: Go, your faith has saved you. And at once his sight returned and he followed him along the road.

Reflection:

The Gospel

Our gospel is from Mark 10:46-52. This all about the blind man Bartimaeus who calls to Jesus for pity, for a miracle. He called Jesus twice and when Jesus called him, his faith healed him. He did not listen to the scolding of other people, instead he called Jesus and beg Him for His mercy. Then, Jesus gave the blind man his sense of sight because he believed.

Important Message of the Gospel

Mark 10:46-52 has a message that is quite simple yet only few can understand. The message is to have faith in God. As we can see, many of us today go to church and pray but not all have faith. Most of the time, we thought that we have faith when it is not strong. Faith is to believe in what we do not see. It means to give all your trust a hundred percent without nay doubt. When we doe this, miracles do happen to us everyday.

What We Have to Do

We need to bind ourselves with faith in God to go on with our lives. As what the gospel from Mark 10:46-52 is telling us. We don’t have to be very intelligent to understand this mystery. We only need a good heart and trust in God that He will provide us with everything we need.

Deep Realization

We are all equal in the eyes of God. We need to make our faith as sturdy as a sequoia tree, tall and strong. It withstand different seasons. God will never fail us if we have strong faith in Him. We may all be sinners, but we are still children of God. We need to get back ourselves together and go back to Him.
