Distance Learning: A Responsibility of One and All
Ronald Tenio Salada
The Department of Education under the leadership of Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones and with the approval of our President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced that School Year 2021-2022 will officially start on September 13, 2021 and will end on June 24, 2022.
Distance Learning is a kind of education in which there is a physical separation between teachers and learners during the instruction. It is sometimes applying some technologies to facilitate the interaction between teachers and learners. Learners are educating themselves without the physical presence of teachers and others.
Distance Learning Modalities such as Modular Distance Learning, Online Distance Learning, Radio and TV-based instructions and others will still be used for the coming school year. It is because our president is not yet allowing the face-to-face classes to take place due to the current health crisis that we are facing. Our president is really concern with the safety of the learners, especially that there is no available vaccine yet for the learners this time.
Because of the CoViD-19 pandemic, distance learning modalities will still be used for the coming school year. This is to answer the battle cry of the Department of Education which is to continue the education of the learners despite the health crisis that we are experiencing until now. The pandemic cannot stop the Filipino people in helping one another in order to continue the education of the learners. Everyone in the community is helping one another for the sake of the Filipino learners.
It has been said that it takes the whole village to educate a child. It means that to educate a child, everyone has its own role to do. The education of the learners is not a sole responsibility of school personnel, but of everyone in the entire village, including the parents or guardians of the learners and those individuals who are in the government. The school personnel cannot do it alone, they need the help of other members of the community. Everyone should work together to continue the education of the learners amid the pandemic. The education of the learners is really the responsibility of everyone.
Teachers, school heads, parents, guardians, stakeholders, government officials and everybody in the community must be helping one another in educating the learners, especially nowadays that the learning modalities which are being used are all distance learning modalities. Everybody should be helping and supporting the learners because they are the future leaders of the community and of the entire country in general. The future of the country lies in the hands of the learners. The learners are still young in terms of age and maturity that is why they really need the help, support and guidance of one and all. If the learners are properly guided by everyone in the community, for sure it will be resulting to something good. So, it is really right and proper that everybody in the entire village must be helping one another with regards to educating the learners, especially nowadays that distance learning is applied.
Cooperation and collaboration of all the members of the entire community is really needed for the success of distance learning. Whatever type of distance learning is used in the community, the cooperation of one and all is needed for the benefit of the learners. Learners cannot do it all by themselves, so the help and support of other people surrounding them are really needed. If learners can see and feel that they are supported by others during this time that education is in the new normal, for sure they will do their best for the success of their studies. They will be inspired to continue their studies, even if it is in the new normal already where they are learning different lessons and concepts through distance learning. Everyone must instill in their hearts and minds that distance learning of any kind must be fully supported simply because distance learning is definitely a responsibility of one and all.
