Disadvantages of modular learning

Disadvantages of modular learning

The last article we discussed about the advantages of modular learning. Today, we will talk about the opposite.

Here are the disadvantages of modular learning that most teachers deal with recently:

1. NOT ALL STUDENTS DO THEIR MODULES WHOLEHEARTEDLY

Yes, this is 100% true as per survey. Most students do their modules for formality purposes. It is very devastating in the part of the teacher to know that students are taking modules for granted. The truth is, teachers don’t have the ability to foresee their students in the premises of their homes.

2. SOME PARENTS SPOIL THEIR CHILDREN AND DO THE DEED INSTEAD OF THEIR CHILDREN

Many parents spoil their children by doing the modules all by themselves. Parents are the ones who should inculcate the value of patience to their children. Some of the parents hire tutors for their children and the tutors answers all the modules.

3. SOME STUDENTS TEND TO COPY THEIR ANSWERS FROM OTHERS WITHOUT READING THE MODULE

Students are now techie enough and they used it to their advantage. They make group chats on their own as pass the answers from one to another and copy it. This sounds very obvious because even during face to face classes, student do it all the time.

4. MANY STUDENTS SAID THEY ACTUALLY NEVER LEARN FROM THE MODULES

Yes, this is very true and sad at the same time. More students say they didn’t understand much what is in the modules. They even have difficulty understanding lessons during face to face.

5. MODULES ARE FOR FORMALITY CAUSE AND NOT INTERNALIZED BY THE STUDENTS

For formality cause only. Students suppose should understand their modules but the opposite reigns. It is more difficult if the parents as well can’t teach or answer the quarries of their own children

The reality may be so devastating but it is also the truth. Only time can tell when this pandemic ends. The present situation may be annoying but let us motivate ourselves to still tick to our goals. Education should not be stagnant because of this pandemic. – Clea | Helpline PH

  1. Can I asked for the link of the survey that say’s students do not do their modules whole heartedly. Needed for our citations.

  2. Students do not do their modules wholeheartedly because some of them are simply copying to others answers without reading what is in the modules.Students now is different and changed, the way they answer their tasks.Unlike those days that the class is still face to face and students are able to perform in their classes.

  3. You discussed the advantages and disadvantages. Do you have any suggestions how to make the students learn “effectively” and “efficiently” during the pandemic? Discuss your suggestions also. Don’t just criticize, if you are a Filipino – make some contributions.

  4. TBH… Modules are such an headache… My module of my grade 2 girl.. imbis na pang grade 2… Parang pang grade 6 na… 8-9 subjects?? Seriously?? Yung curriculum niyo pwedeng idahan-dahan niyo.. when I was grade 2 only 4-6 subjects lang.. walang pachuchu eme eme

  5. ngayon grade seven na ‘ko. sure ako na mahihirapan akong maintindihan ang mga lessons ngayong f2f. tamang search lang sa brainly. ang hirap naman kasing intindihin ng module. lalo na yung algebra

  6. Tbh, as a grade 11 student, mas mahirap talaga yung mga lessons. Hindi mo na nga maintindihan ang mga lessons, ang hihirap pa ng mga pinapasagutan. Ano na lang isasagot mo kung wala ka namang maintindihan?
