VP Sara should resign as DepEd Secretary – De Lima
Vice President Sara Duterte should already resign as the Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd), according to former Senator Leila De Lima. This is if she continues to oppose the decisions of the cabinet of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., where Duterte is also a member.
In her post on X last Monday, December 4, the former senator insisted that the issue of “peace talks” is not within Duterte’s “core competence” as DepEd chief. “Akin to her preemptive position, re: ICC, the problem with VP Sara’s statement against the peace talks is this – She is still a member of Cabinet.
Peace talks is not within the core competence of her portfolio as DepEd Sec,” said De Lima in her status. De Lima added, “She cannot eat cake and keep it too. She can only go on criticizing BBM’s policies if vshe is no longer a member of Cabinet and speaks only as VP.” It is recalled that Duterte released a statement last Monday that her viewpoint is contrary to the action taken by Marcos to grant amnesty to some groups of rebels, and the government’s peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
