Villar thinks VP Duterte left Marcos cabinet to ‘simplify’ her life

Senator Cynthia Villar believes that Vice President Sara Duterte resigned as Secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) to avoid political harassment. VP Duterte left the Marcos cabinet last month without explaining her reasons.

Senator Villar shared her thoughts on Wednesday, saying, “I think she resigned to avoid being harassed. When you hold a big position like Secretary of Education, many issues can be raised against you, even if they’re not true.”

VP Duterte and President Marcos Are Still Friends

Despite her resignation, VP Duterte mentioned that she remains friends with President Marcos. Senator Villar also thinks that Duterte’s resignation was a way to simplify her life. “I think she’s simplifying her life,” she added.

Security Concerns for VP Duterte

Senator Villar also commented on the Philippine National Police (PNP) recalling 75 of VP Duterte’s police escorts. This move was supposedly to strengthen the security force in Metro Manila. However, VP Duterte accused the PNP chief, Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, of lying to the public and called the recall political harassment.

“She’s entitled to some security because she’s the Vice President of the Philippines,” Villar stated.

Lawmakers’ Reactions and Accusations

Some lawmakers accused VP Duterte of using the security issue to distract the public from her “ill-timed” overseas vacation during a typhoon. They urged her to respect the PNP and its decisions.

Despite the controversies, VP Duterte’s decision to resign from the DepEd and the issues surrounding her security detail continue to spark discussions and varying opinions among political figures and the public.
