Parents File Complaint Against Teacher
A male teacher from Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School (DVRMNHS) in Cebu City is facing complaints after allegedly biting two students. One of the students claimed that the teacher asked him to take off his shirt to show his abs before biting him on the back.
Students Aged 17 and 14 Were Bitten
According to reports, the students involved are 17 and 14 years old. The father of one of the students, who is a police officer, is determined to file a case against the teacher.
The police officer shared that his son was told to remove his shirt. When the student refused, the teacher allegedly threatened him. Even after the student followed the order, the teacher still bit him on the back, leaving a mark.
The father took his son to the hospital for a medical examination before reporting the case to Police Station 7.
Mother of Another Student Becomes Emotional
The mother of the second student also expressed her anger and sadness after learning about what happened to her child. Her son was reportedly bitten on the arm.
Both parents went to the barangay chairman to file a formal complaint. Barangay chairman Dave Tumulak said that there is enough evidence against the teacher, including medical certificates, photos, videos, and witness testimonies.
School and DepEd Take Action
Noel Auxtero and Noel Nacorda, head teachers at DVRMNHS, have already submitted a report to the Cebu City Department of Education (DepEd) Division regarding the incident.
The students and their classmates who witnessed the event will receive counseling and debriefing to help them deal with the situation.
DepEd Central Visayas regional director Dr. Salustiano Jimenez confirmed that they received the report and assured that they will not tolerate such actions from a teacher.
“I received the reports this morning and have forwarded them to the legal office for action. We will not tolerate such acts and will handle this properly,” said Dr. Jimenez.
The accused teacher was asked for a statement but refused to comment, according to reports.
