Today’s Gospel Reflection: John 17:20-26

Gospel: John 17:20-26

I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

‘Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.’

John 17:20-26

Reflection:

Our gospel for today is from John 17:20-26. This reminds us of the greatest love of Jesus for us all. Jesus is not only praying for His disciples but He is praying for us all. We only have the difficulty believing that Jesus is always thinking of us.

John 17:20-26 made it very clear that Jesus is praying for me, for you, for us and for everybody. He was praying with His disciples as He is one with them. Let us always see the glory of God with the Father in heaven.

In John 17:20-26, we have to believe through Jesus. We have to bear witness to the greatest love of God for mankind. In return, we have to give our all-out faith to the Holy Trinity. We also have to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. As what John 17:20-26 tells us to do, we have to unite in the lap of our savior. In return, we must always do penance and help our brothers and sisters in this lifetime.

Do you know someone who is willing to pray for you other than Jesus? There is no other God than Jesus our savior. Blessed are those who believe for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. This means that those who trust and have faith in Jesus will be blest.

In John 17:20-26, each and every one of us must always remember that the blood of Christ saved us all. In return we must not forget how cruel the world is to us. Yet, in this life comes a rainbow of hope and happiness. God made sure that after the rain and storm, we can stand again. He gave us His son Jesus to save us all. This gospel means that Jesus is praying that is people will love each other more than God loves us. – Clea | Helpline PH
