Today’s Gospel Reflection: Mark 7:31-37

Gospel: Mark 7:31-37

31 Returning from the territory of Tyre, he went by way of Sidon towards the Lake of Galilee, right through the Decapolis territory.
32 And they brought him a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they asked him to lay his hand on him.
33 He took him aside to be by themselves, away from the crowd, put his fingers into the man’s ears and touched his tongue with spittle.
34 Then looking up to heaven he sighed; and he said to him, ‘Ephphatha,’ that is, ‘Be opened.’
35 And his ears were opened, and at once the impediment of his tongue was loosened and he spoke clearly.
36 And Jesus ordered them to tell no one about it, but the more he insisted, the more widely they proclaimed it.
37 Their admiration was unbounded, and they said, ‘Everything he does is good, he makes the deaf hear and the dumb speak.’

Reflection:

The gospel for today is from Mark 7:31-37 which is another manifestation of Jesus doing miracles. This one is through a deaf man whom Jesus shows mercy.

The gospel bought to us by Mark 7:31-37 radiates that nobody is excluded from the healing touch of God. The deaf man did not come by himself to face Jesus because he has no capability to do so. The crowd of people led him to see Jesus and Jesus brought him to a private place where He healed him.

Jesus is the great father, shepherd who always made sure His people don’t suffer. “Ask and you will revive. Seek and you will find.” This goes deep as it has to be. The deaf man is like us people who wishes to hear and to speak but is unable to. We need Jesus to heal us and do a miracle in our lives.

Have you ever experience a big problem and you have nothing to help you with it and you ask God for help and He answered? Yes, every day in our lives is an answered prayer from God. From the day we wake up to see great things ahead of us and everything we have.

The healing means letting God enter our lives and opening our eyes and ears to Him. The heart should be there as well. It’s not easy to understand the message of God and not all people will know why. Their eyes are blind and their ears shut because they don’t want to dwell in goodness.

To understand the gospel in Mark 7:31-37, we have to be awake and let God do His power in our lives. As of the very moment, we are all struggling with financial struggles. We have been struggling because of this pandemic but we still stand despite it. Believing in God is the main weapon that can help us overcome all burdens to come. Let us all praise Him and open up our eyes and ears to His voice. – Clea | Helpline PH
