Gatchalian urges regular COVID tests for teachers as F2F classes resume
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian urges teachers conducting face-to-face classes to have regular Covid-19 tests.
The chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Culture and Arts said it after having witnessed the start of limited in-person classes on Monday.
To minimize risks, we need to test. Kaya dapat mapondohan ang testing ng mga teachers at kung may nag-positive man, merong nakahandang suporta para sa kanila ,” Gatchalian said during his visit to participating schools in the pilot testing of face-to-face classes.
While he recognized that school officials and teachers are prepared to conduct face-to-face classes, he emphasized the need to provide financial support to schools to ensure that they have adequate health supplies and facilities for water, sanitation and hygiene.
Gatchalian has pushed to make the safe reopening of schools a priority in the budget of the Department of Education in 2022.
“What we need is support.
