Legarda pushes salary increase for public school teachers

Senator Loren Legarda filed a bill seeking to increase the minimum wage of public school teachers and non-teaching personnel.

Senate Bill 4 will increase the salary grade level of public school teachers from Salary Grade 11 to Salary Grade 15.

The salary for a regular entry-level position in government service shall not be less than P16,000 a month.

“We must recognize the significant role of our teachers and personnel in nation-building. Our educational frontliners who have remained steadfast in our goal to provide the best for the Filipino children. With the increasing cost of living, it is high time we raise their salary,” Legarda said.

“Hindi natin maikakaila na ang daming dalang hamon ng Covid19 pandemic lalo na sa sektor ng edukasyon, ngunit dahil sa dedikasyon ng ating mga guro patuloy nating naitataguyod ang hangaring mabigyan ng dekalidad na edukasyon ang bawat batang Pilipino. Saludo po ako sa inyong walang pagod ninyong paggabay sa ating mga kabataan,” she added.

God Bless our fellow teachers. We do our best to provide our learners with guality, equitable, culture-based and complete basic education.Like an efficient car, teachers working like machines also need the best care and support in terms of quality health care, decent clothing and shelter, nutritious food and efficient means of transportation from home to school, and even homes of learners at risk of dropping out. How do we realize our great mission and multifarious needs? We need a dependable income, a means by which we are not merely called as surviving workers but as efficient facilitators of learning. We are urgently calling our Pro-Filipino President and our Legislators to make way for the provision of a decent salary, which gives justice and sufficiency for our expenses.Aside of ourselves, we also have children and siblings who need money for their basic needs. We are one of the inevitable partners for nation building and before we can optimally do our mission-vision, please make us feel comfortable economically, even for just this one basically, and you may anticipate a better transformation of our educational performance.God Bless our leaders, God Bless our learners, God Bless all workers in all agencies of government….Thank you Senator Loren Legarda for this initiative…we will be very happy to hear updates and the best results of this clamor.

  6. You will distort the Salary Standardization Law kung Teachers lang bibigyan ng increase. Paano naman mga ibang empleyado ng national government agencies..
