K-12 Curriculum a Legacy of Late Former President PNOY
The Department of Education Antique Division School Governance and Operations Division chief Evelyn Remo said that the K-12 curriculum is a legacy of the late former President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III.
This is made Philippine education at par with other countries. She said that the implementation of K to 12 program helped Filipinos who had to move abroad.
“Before the implementation of the K to 12 program, Filipinos were still required to study further in their host country because our curriculum then was only for 10 years,” she said.
Two years were added to basic education with junior and senior high school in K to 12 program.
“The Kindergarten Education Act made mandatory the kindergarten and it strengthened the Early Childhood Education,” Remo said.
“There were also school buildings that were constructed for the senior high school students,” she added.
