Early release of government employees’ midyear bonus urged
“If the government is appealing to private employers to pay the 13th-month salary of their employees in advance to tide them over the enhanced community quarantine, the public sector should do the same.” This is the statement of Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor.
Since the budget for second quarter is already available, why not release the bonus earlier. This is a great help to all government employees amid the tighten implementation of quarantine to combat COVID 19 pandemic.
Originally, this mid-year bonus is release not earlier than May 15. But according to Defensor, government has nothing to lose in releasing it earlier since the budget is there. It could be possible that they can release it this April.
Defensor is earnestly suggesting to the President Rodrigo Duterte to consider releasing mid-year bonus of government workers earlier just the same with the private sectors.
