DepEd to improve teacher positions with higher salary grades

Malacañang is considering to issue an executive order that will enhance teacher positions with higher salary grades, DepEd said.

Education Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said some teachers are stuck at Teacher III because Master Teacher I demands high educational requirements.

“Ito ay isang pending EO natin now with the Office of the Executive Secretary that will add several more teaching levels,” Malaluan said.

“Magdadagdag tayo ng Teacher IV, V, VI and VII that will have their corresponding higher salary grade of Salary Grade of 14, 15, 16, and 17,” he added.

Malaluan revealed that some teachers retire at Teacher II.

He said the department is expanding the promotional opportunities of teachers.

“The proposal already received concurrence from the Civil Service Commission,” he said. 

“The DepEd is waiting for the concurrence of the Professional Regulation Commission and comments from the Department of Budget and Management.”

  1. We do hope that the promotion base on the length of service and the masteral degree not of palakasan system and that is automatically like steping increment.

    1. Yes…depends on their length of service,coz I know many teacher wants for promotion.the reason behind is lock of budget to enrolled graduate studies.

  2. This must be given attention by DepEd so that teachers will not be stock in a position for long years..Imagine serving for 10, years, or 20 years, at yong iba nag retire ng Teacher 1 pa din. Teachers undergo trainings and seminars to upgrade their professional growth and even have their masterals degree but still kahit anong pa rank at submit ng documents ang ginawa mo para tumaas naman position Wala pa rin nangyari..Sana mawala na yong palakasan system..sa ganoong paraan mas lalong magsusumikap ang mga guro para mapromote at ma satisfied sila sa kanilang pagsusumikap…Track the records of teachers, my 201 file naman sila..Sana din mabawasan na yong mga nonsense requirements. Nagtatrabaho naman yong mga guro..paano yong di Kilala but performing in a silent way?unfair naman yon sa medyo malalapit sa puso..and their comes palakasan system and even corruption may exist if ever..I think this is the high time to improve our promotion system.

  3. Additional ranking is just a band aid solution. Increase the salary na kahit Teacher I lang iyong guro malaki parin ang sinasahod niya. It’s already a choice kasi sa ibang teachers na hindi na mag enroll for graduate studies kasi nga may ibang prioriority sa budget.

    1. Agree po ako maam… Like me po, ako nlng ang nagwowork gawa nang Parkinson’s disease ang husband ko…i have to provide his medicines(maintenance) and all absic needs of a family. Di ko na talaga afford mag enroll sa masteral gustuhin ko man.

I think.as of this time process for promotion is enhanced..In education, there’s always a need for professional development.Not only for promotion but updating ourselves for improvement of our teaching practices to cope with the changes.We have to embrace change esp today that we are in the digital era..
        It depends on the teacher if what’s his/her priority. It’s his/her own choice what is to be prioritize in the family budget.
        TO MAKE IT SAFE, salary increase accross the board is very much needed to satisfy those who are lower in rank..

    I’m so happy to hear this. I hope I can avail the said promotion before I will retire 5 to 7 years from now. I’m 29 years in service and I’m 55 years old.I hope our length of service will be ghe basis for promotion as T-4. Thank you DEPED

  5. Remove the Coordinatorship and council advisers as it is counted as 1 teaching load. Hire non teaching staff for Asst Principal to do these job with low salary grade level. Teacher will be a full time classroom practitioner and research oriented to improve classroom practices.

  6. Palakasan rin lang nman. Kung wala kang kakilala hindi rin mahihire ung mga nagparanking khit number 1 ka pa sa ranking ireremejo p rin nila ung may mga backer

  7. Should it be taken this way? That natural vacancy no longer applies in this new career progression scheme since no teacher may apply to assume the item; so what happens if the teacher requests for transfer of work assignment? (e.g. Will a master teacher 1 bear the same item when he/she transfers to another school?)
