Solon urge Gov’t to address the alarming state of education

Sorsogon Rep. Evelina Escudero filed a resolution pressing government to act on the alarming state of education in the country.

Escudero filed House Resolution 2382 seeking to have a specific reading teacher in every elementary school.

This will strengthen the reading capability of students even if it would mean allotting extra funds for it.

Escudero explained that the Philippines is among the five countries in the world that have suffered educational system because of the pandemic.

“The Philippine education has been criticized by international institutions, such as the UNICEF and the World Bank, for having poor education ranking that ranges from the quality of hiring and development of teachers, and school infrastructure, funding and management,” Escudero said.

“This alarming state of Philippine education cannot be overstated. On the contrary, the Philippine government must act swiftly with effectiveness to address this quite important and alarming issue for it to be consistent with constitutionally enshrined State policies on education,” she added.
