Public school teacher salary increase continues in 2021

The Department of Education gave public school teachers a guarantee that their salary increase continues as it is already included in the 2021 national budget.

DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla emphasized in a press briefing that P475 billion is allotted for the department personnel services which contain salary, allowances, and other benefits.

“By next year meron naman pong salary increase. Ito ‘yung second tranche noong Salary Standardization Law,” said Sevilla..

“Meron pong kasiguraduhan sa ating mga guro na naka-employ ngayon,” she added.

Sevilla said the fund for personnel services increased by 13.54% from P418.4 billion to P475.09 billion in 2021 compared to the 2020 budget.

The education sector received the biggest portion in the National Expenditure Program for 2021 with P754 billion allocation. Most of these funds will go to DepEd for 2021 with P606.4 billion allocation.
