DepEd considers possible school opening on August 23

Department of Education Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said that the department is planning to open the next school year on August 23. This will shorten students’ vacation to 6 weeks from the usual 2 months.

So halos 6 na linggo ‘yong break sa pagitan ng 2 school year,” San Antonio said in an interview.

San Antonio revealed that DepEd is preparing an “ideal scenario” that is applicable next school year.

May pinaghahandaan din kaming stratehiya para diyan,” he said.

The undersecretary said that DepEd is set to release guidelines in conducting graduation rites for School Year 2020 – 2021.

Pero virtual, payag,” he said.

“At the end of the day, ang tatanungin nila kung gusto nilang gawin iyon, compliant ba ‘yan sa IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) guidelines,” he said.

San Antonio added that DepEd respects how private schools would conduct graduation rites as long as they are under IATF guidelines.
