IATF: Private schools permitted to start classes on June


Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) will allow private schools to start classes this June as long as there is no face-to-face contact. 

This is the statement of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque during the Laging Handa briefing aired in PTV on Saturday (May 9, 2020). Roque also serves as the spokesperson of IATF.

Face-to-face classes can only be allowed on August 24. Private schools who wish to open classes on June can opt to virtual classes or distant learning.

“Yung mga ilang pribadong paaralan na nais magsimula ng Hunyo, wala po iyang face-to-face interactions” he said. “Wala pa pong face-to-face hanggang Agosto 24, 2020.”


IATF-EID agreed on the Department of Education decision to open classes in public schools on August 24,2020 and will end on April 31,2021, virtually or physically.

While, private schools have the discretion to choose for their opening of classes between June to August.
