DepEd: President Duterte will make final decision about class opening in July
Department of Education is making all necessary preparations for the coming opening of classes this August 24 but still, it’s the President who will have the final decision in July, this is according to Sec. Briones.
“On July 15, we will meet again. By that time, we will have a number of enrollees then report to the President for his consideration,” Briones said during Thursday’s hearing of the Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture.
One major factor to be considered is the status of the ongoing battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of June 11, DepEd reported almost 10 million students who already enrolled for the past 2 weeks since they open the enrollment.
Sec. Briones also mentioned that she wanted to insist opening of classes by August 24. Education cannot wait for the vaccine to be available.
If classes will push this August, blended learning will be the new normal as face-to-face classes still prohibited.
DepEd promised to provide printed learning materials for those students who have no internet access, no radio, no television, and no gadgets available at home.
