Teachers will conduct enrichment classes to learners with grades 75 to 79 during vacation

The Department of Education released a memorandum on the conduct of remedial and enrichment class for school year 2021-2022.

Learners who received a grade ranging from 75 to 79 shall attend enrichment classes for 15 days only, from Mondays to Fridays, within the identified duration of EOSY classes.

Enrichment Classes refer to any form of organized instructional interventions given to learners from Grade 1 to Grade 11 who received a grade ranging from 75 to 79 in any learning area to improve their level of attainment of the prescribed learning competencies and fully prepare them for transition to their next grade level. Learners undergoing enrichment programs shall be provided the additional learning opportunities through tutorials, mentoring, coaching or other ways of delivering organizing learning experiences. – Amendment to DepEd Order No. 13, s. 2018

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers called on the Department of Education to give extra pay or at least service credits to teachers who will handle enrichment classes.

“Our teachers are all for addressing the learning crisis and raising education quality, but this noble cause should not be used as a ticket to violate the labor rights of our teachers.,” Raymond Basilio, the group’s secretary general, said.

  1. Yes, teachers who will handle enrichment/remedial classes during the summer break should be given a maximum of15 days service credits
