DepEd sets graduation day, moving up rites dates

The Department of Education (DepEd) recently inform the public about the scheduled date for graduation and moving up rites of students in public schools.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said kindergarten, Grade 6, 10, and 12 could conduct graduation or moving up rites on July 12 to 16, a few days after the end of the school year on July 10.

However, private schools may follow the schedule as reflected in their school calendars.

The theme of this year rites is “Strengthening the Quality of Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.”

Briones emphasized that “any face-to-face ceremony is not allowed” under the national government guidelines amid COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools could instead opt to virtual rites through social media platforms.

“Schools may prepare a short program that will run in less than two hours to consider the internet connectivity that will be consumed,” Briones said.
