DepEd Answering Teacher’s Internet Concern

The Department of Education is addressing the request of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers for additional monthly internet allowance, Malacañang said.

“Unang-una po nagkusa na ang DepEd para magka-dialogue sa leaders ng ACT, isa ito sa pinag-uusapan. So, hintayin natin ano mapagkakasunduan sa panig ng DepEd at ACT leaders,” Palace Spokesman Harry Roque said.

Earlier, ACT said some teachers complained that 1GB per day is not enough.

The group urged DepEd to release a P1,500 monthly internet subsidy instead of SIM cards, .

In August, DepEd distributed the first cycle of monthly load for 277,381 teachers and non-teaching personnel.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that each personnel will receive a total of 102 gigabytes of data that will be divided over three months at 34 GB per month.

Briones noted that an extra 4GB per month is also provided for open data access.
