Extra pay for teachers doing co-curricular activities

ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro sought more budget for the Department of Education for teachers compensation doing co-curricular activities.

Castro suggested an extra P500 million for other activities outside of normal teachers duties.

Castro stressed that the budget shall be utilized only to pay public school teachers who are required to render co-curricular activities as defined by guidelines set by DepEd.

She added that teachers who attend such activities should be paid an additional compensation of not less than 25 percent of their basic salary.

Castro also pressed for an extra P1 billion fund for public school teachers in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.

She said that the budget will ensure that they will get benefits under Magna Carta for Public School Teachers.

  1. Sana maipatupad ito agad dahil marami kaming extra curricular activities na Ginagawa na pinaglalaanan din namin ng extra time, effort, and even our own money.
